Pasir Gudang highway upgrade on track, set to meet mid Oct deadline.

 JOHOR BAHRU : The Pasir Gudang Highway expansion and upgrading project, spanning 23 locations, is in its final phase and set to meet the mid-October completion deadline.

Johor Menteri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi, who visited the site today, assured motorists that the progress is in line with the completion target.

"I have been closely monitoring the upgrading works, to ensure it is completed by mid-October.

"I understand the inconveniences caused by the road closures and significant traffic disruptions. Motorists plying the stretch to get to work and home, are experiencing significant traffic disruptions due to construction works," he said.


The Public Works Department has taken short-term measures to alleviate concerns regarding severe traffic congestion.


Temporary road diversions have been established, and alternative routes have been recommended.


He advised motorists and the affected road users to consider the alternative routes until mid-October.

he Johor Bahru - Pasir Gudang route is to exit via Jalan Pandan (FT03) towards the Jalan Rinting junction, before exiting via Jalan Masai Lama (J10).

For those travelling from Senai to Ulu Tiram: exit via Bandar Dato Onn, before making way towards Adda Height -Taman Daya-Mount Austin, and then exit at the Aeon Tebrau junction.

Motorists travelling between Skudai and Ulu Tiram are advised to exit at the Angsana Mall junction, proceed towards Jalan Tampoi and exit at Kampung Ubi Baru.

"I understand the motorists' frustration due to the unavoidable congestion, but please bear with this until mid-October.

"We are doing our best to address the traffic issues… please be patient, practice caution and plan your travel routes in advance," he said, adding that the short-term disruptions are necessary to enjoy the long-term benefits of upgrading the Pasir Gudang Highway under the Johor Maju agenda.

EXCO: Johor hopes HSA2 will be included in budget 2024.

 JOHOR BAHRU : The Johor government hopes that the construction of Sultanah Aminah Hospital 2 (HSA2) here will be given attention by the federal government in the tabling of Budget 2024 next month.

State Health and Unity Committee Chairman Ling Tian Soon said HSA2 is one of the projects that the state government is focusing on to address congestion at the two existing hospitals in the city, namely Sultanah Aminah Hospital (HSA) and Sultan Ismail Hospital (HSI).


He said the Ministry of Defence (MINDEF) has agreed to allocate 28.32 hectares of its land to the Ministry of Health (KKM) to develop the new hospital.

“The entire MINDEF land in Skudai is 202.34 hectares and MINDEF agreed to allocate 28.32 hectares for HSA2. Last month, the Ministry of Health officials and I visited the site.

“Menteri Besar (Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi) has also said that HSA2 is a project that is the focus of the state government and we hope that this project will be included in the Budget 2024,” he told reporters after officiating the state-level Wellness Month 2023 at the Wellness Hub HSA is here today.


On the construction of a multi-storey car park at HSA, Ling hoped that the project could be implemented soon to overcome the congestion that occurs daily at the hospital.

“Previously, the Prime Minister (Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim) has announced an allocation of RM500 million to upgrade services at HSA including the construction of a multi-storey car park. I hope this construction can be expedited,” he said.


Regarding the construction of the Pasir Gudang Hospital which is scheduled to be completed next year, he said it was going smoothly and ahead of schedule.
